Edit: So, fertig. Das Spiel ist noch bitterböser als Eba, daher aber auch gut. Jetzt ist mir auch der Zusammenhang zwischen beiden Spielen klar (und wer den ersten Teil nicht überlebt hat).
In Krimifilmen (Tatort usw.) verfügen die ermittelnden Kommissare über diverseste Informationen über Verdächtige. Eingeleitet wird es oft damit, dass der jeweilige Assistent des/der Ermittler beauftragt wird, alles über die jeweilige Person in Erfahrung zu bringen, was dann auch geschieht: Vorgänge auf Privat- und Geschäftskonten, oft vollständige Datensätze verschiedener Ämter (Finanzamt, Gesundheitsamt, Bauamt) und Institutionen (Versicherungen, Uni und Schule, Krankenhaus, Kirche, Arbeitgeber).
Ist das in Wirklichkeit auch so? Kann die Polizei von jeder x-beliebigen Person unter Verweis auf polizeiliche Ermittlungen, egal ob die Person Zeuge oder bisher (lose) unter Verdacht bei Kapitaldelikten ist, dessen persönliche Daten bei Versicherungen, Banken, Behörden usw. umfänglich einziehen? Im Krimifilm erscheint diese Recherche immer wie selbstverständlich (so etwa heißt es dort: "Ich will alles von Person X wissen. Such mir die Daten. Morgen will ich das auf meinem Schreibtisch haben."). Mir als Laie erscheint das unverhältnismäßig, also rechtswidrig, zu sein. Geht das überhaupt praktisch, etwa was die Konten betrifft, dass der Staat (vielleicht abgesehen von der Schweiz usw.) wissen kann, bei welcher/n Bank/-en jemand Kunde ist?

Jup. Ebenfalls schön sind auch dessen Quasi-Vorgänger Samorost 1 und Samorost 2. Die sind auch safe for work. ;)
