Nutzen alle zukünftig und gegenwärtig erscheinenden Spiele DirectX11, sodass über kurz oder lang auf Windows 7 umgestiegen werden muss? Wird es solch einen Zwang auch bei anderen Anwendungen, Office, Internetsurfen usw., geben, oder beinhaltet WinXP nach wie vor die notwendigen grundlegenden Funktionen, um XP weiterhin ruhigen Gewissens zu nutzen?
Wenn XP bis auf Weiteres noch gut genutzt werden kann, wäre das Betriebssystem einer der Punkte, den ich bei meinem irgendwann nächsten (ggf. telefonisch erfolgenden) Notebookkauf zu meinen Gunsten anführen könnte (neben dem Verzicht auf Fingerabdruck-Lesegerät und ähnlich für mich irrelevanten Kram, der die Preise entgegen meiner Bedürfnisse unnötig in die Höhe schießen lässt).

Es gibt keine neuen Lizenzen mehr für XP, daher wird wohl nur Gebrauchtware bei Notebooks dieses noch bieten können.
Weiterhin läuft der Longrange-Support für XP im Sommer 2014 endgültig aus, weshalb es danach auch keinerlei Sicherheitsupdates und Fixes seitens Microsoft mehr geben wird. Damit wird XP als BS für den Hauptrechner unattraktiv, da die Sicherheit mit einem Internetanschluss dann nicht mehr gegeben sein wird. Daher werde ich dann wohl auch umsteigen müssen.
Der Internet Explorer 9 läuft nicht unter Windows XP.

wenn du es genau wissen willst, musst du allerdings selbst nachforschen, da ich mich da auch nicht wirklich auskenne.

Soweit ich weiß ist in Widows 7 ein vollwertiger XP Modus integriert. Hab das aber noch nciht gecheckt, da bis jetzt unter Windows 7 alles bei mir läuft. Schätze, das FF7 und 8 mit den Patches für XP und Vista auch unter W7 laufen werden. Müßte ich mir mal die Zeit nehmen um das zu chekcen.
Zu Vista kann ich sagen, lief bei mir knapp 2 Jahre, danach mußte ich den PC neu aufsetzen und dass dann gleich mit W7, dank der Uni gratis ;)

Der XP-Modus hat nur irgend eine uralte S3 Virgo Grafikkarte, die er simuliert - die kann kein Direct3D oder 3D per OpenGL darstellen bzw. berechnen.

Joa, man kriegt doch eh nur das Professional oder Ultimate, oder? Na ok für Spiele is der Modus dann vll doch nicht :O
Aber wie gesagt, bis jetzt laufen alle meine Spiele problemlos auf W7. Auch die älteren.

Probleme gibt es auch meist mit dem Kopierschutz bzw. den Schreibrechten. Zumindest so weit ich das gehört habe.
